Chris Maher

Chris Maher was born in Mine Hill, New Jersey. He started fishing when his step father introduced him to it forty-five years ago. In 2012, he made the decision to purchase his first kayak, and was hooked ever since. He loves kayak fishing so much because it allows him to fish bodies of water with limited access, and to go beyond the normal range of boaters. In the past few years, he has participated in a couple of tournaments and completed his first complete tournament trail in 2018, winning 8th in the season standings. The series had 14 tournaments with 8 top 10 finishes, 2 top 3 finishes , 1 lunker winner.

He volunteers with the Jersey chapter of Heroes on the Water, and is a founding member and current President of the North Jersey Kayak Bass Fishing Club. His favorite fishing memory is the time when he was out in a local lake and was greeted by a man in a jon boat. The man approached him and asked all about kayaks and fishing, and ended up demoing his boat. When he returned, the man had a huge smile on his face. A couple weeks later, Chris ran into him again, and he was fishing from a kayak! Ever since then, they’ve become fishing buddies.
